she laughed...

Posted by The Pryor Family

We heard Riley laugh for the first time this weekend. It was adorable. I can't wait to hear it again.

This week is going to feel like it is forever long -- as we are making a trip down to Louisville this weekend. We have so much that is planned, its going to be crazy. Hopefully the kids have games Saturday morning. Then, we're going to take Riley to the zoo for Halloween at the Zoo...you'll see pictures of her costume later, we're keeping it a secret! Then hopefully we'll get to make a trip up to Hubers to the pumpkin patch. I can't wait! I'm so excited to see everyone!

We went to the park Sunday night for a little walk. Riley stayed awake the whole time--a first! Usually that carseat/stoller puts her right to sleep. But she listened to the ducks and looked at the trees. It was fun. We also made a visit to Andy's great grandparents for them to meet Riley. It was cute seeing them with her. But at the same time, it made me miss my family. This is only going to get harder I think...this living 2 hours away. But it makes visits with them all the more special and for that I'm grateful.

Here are some pics from the weekend...

So my mom and dad got to come up for the night. They got us a room at the hotel so we didn't have to drive back and forth, and we could have a little more time together. It was nice to have them up here...I wish that everyone could have come. But hopefully we'll be seeing the rest of my family in just a few short weeks....I think it's going to feel like forever.

Here are some few pics!

Well Baby Check up

Posted by The Pryor Family

So we had our 2 month well baby check-up for Riley. She has gained two pounds this month and is up to 11 lbs. 7 oz. and has added another 2 inches to her height. The doctor said she is doing great, and was very suprised to learn that she is sleeping through the night. So she is doing very well -- and we couldn't be happier.

Here are a few pics...

Riley's cousin Layla Grace has made her appearance. Here are some pics of her and Riley together.

Mom and Dad are coming up today from Louisville. I wish that my sister and her family were able to come up, but we are just thrilled that they are getting to come up. I'm getting a little homesick and have had a bad week, so it will be nice to have them up here. I wish they were already here.

As for our other child, Peyton. He has run of again this morning. I'm not sure what to do with him. He's an escape artist and will not come to us when we're outside trying to get him. The bad thing is that we live on a heavily traveled state road, and each time he crosses the street my heart stops. I've already seen him get clipped by a car that didn't stop, anything worse would break my heart. He's such a good dog, when he's not trying to escape. :(

2 months old!!

Posted by The Pryor Family

So yesterday Riley became exactly 2 months old. Where has the time gone?? I honestly couldn't tell you, it seems like just yesterday we were holding her in the delivery room. Its bittersweet because I'm starting to already miss her being small, she's getting so big. Friday we have our 2 month well baby checkup. I'm anxious to see how much she has grown. Although I want her to stay little forever, its fun watching her change and experience everything. She is now smiling back at me instead of when she's got gas. She gives me flirty eyes and bats her eyelashes at me. We do baby crunches and leg kicks. She's really strong for how small she is. Its amazing how everything is new to her, it has made me pay attention to those moments where she's experiencing something for the first time. Last night we had her butterfly lights on (led party lights that we put around her closet door), and she stared at them in amazement. It was so precious and cute. Lights and music are her favorite things.

Although I don't want to jinx it. she has been sleeping through the night since about 5 weeks. This morning she slept from 11 at night to 10 in the morning. I'm waking up more than she is. I hope this stays, but I'm sure they go through spells. But so far, she's letting us catch up on some much needed sleep.

Well, I haven't had a chance to get batteries yet, but I promise I'll have some more pics up here soon.

Laziness

Posted by The Pryor Family

This last weekend was pure laziness for the Pryor Family. Saturday we left the house just to get groceries, and Sunday we left to walk around Walmart for an hour while the power was out. That was the extent of our weekend. And this morning we are recuperating. Its amazing how doing nothing can wear you down more than going out.

October is going to be full of busy-ness, with lots of trips down to Louisville. We've got St. James coming up -- which I cannot wait for. Maybe this year I'll actually buy something, perhaps for Riley. Someday, I'm going to have a both there with large canvas photography and ceramic vases -- I guess I need to get started on that. We've also got Morgan's first cheerleading competition. I've missed so many games of both Morgan and Chase, I really hope I can make it to see at least one. Youth league was one of the funnest times of my childhood. Sometimes it really hurts that we've missed so much of their activities being further away. We've also got Halloween coming up. I can't wait to see what Riley is going to be. I'm having such a hard time finding a "girly" costume. We've, well I, have got it narrowed down to a DragonFly, Lady Bug, and mabye an Elephant. Andy wants her to be a pea pod, but ummm no to that.

Well, unfortunately, I have no picture updates, the batteries in my camera are dead. I need to get some for tomarrow. Riley will be 2 months!!

We're getting bigger

Posted by The Pryor Family

So before Riley was born, we were told she was going to be a big baby. But no one could define for me what "big baby" was. Andy and I are not small people, so I was expecting a little butterball to come out, not a 6lb. baby. So here we were with this little girl with no clothes to fit. Her going home outfit didn't even come close to fitting her. My mom and sister had to go out and buy preemies to get her through. And now almost 2 months in I can rejoice in saying that we are starting to fit in her little outfits. wooohooo! Just thought I'd share a few pics.

I caught her smiling in some of these...

Oh and some of you may be wondering how Peyton (our husky) is adjusting... Well, I think he's having a little difficulty sharing.

So I figure this may be a good way to keep everyone, especially those in Louisville, updated on how we're doing and on Riley's everchanging moments.

For those of you who do not already know, Riley Morgan Pryor, graced us with her presence on July 16, 2008 at 12:18 p.m. Unlike I thought it would be, I had a realative easy pregnancy and delivery. I was enduced at 38.5 weeks, due to high blood pressure on a Wednesday morning and had Riley a few hours later. It went really fast and quick, and let me just say that the epidural is the best thing in the world, I had two just for the fun of it. It was so fast my mom and sister barely made it in to see me before I started pushing. So to date, she is now 7 weeks old, with her 2 month well-baby check next week. She was a long, skinny baby at 6 lbs. 13 oz. and 22 inches. Although, Andy and I are still trying to figure out being parents, we are enjoying every minute of it. Every smile just makes our day complete.

Andy and I have been married since May 19, 2007, but have been together for almost 5 years. Crazy huh? Its hard to believe that there was a time where we didn't even speak to each other. But thanks to some friends at the time, we ended up together. Now I can't get him to be quiet :) We are best friends and love our life together. And we are loving every minute of parenthood.

As you know, I am originally from Louisville, and try to get home as often as we can. But it isn't the same, and experiencing motherhood with my family several hours away is hard. There's times where I just need my mom. But we're somehow making it work.
