Riley's first christmas was a blast. The cabin was a nice getaway from reality. A week of doing nothing but relaxing was much needed. Riley now has two teeth. My sister and her family got her a walker which is already being put to use. She can really move around the house. She is also almost sitting up completely by herself. Its crazy how much progress she has made. Its been fun watching her do something for the very first time. She went swimming at the cabin and seems to be a water baby just like her momma :) She went to her first movie and slept right through it. We are really blessed with such a good and happy baby. Below are some pics...

Riley has her first tooth!!! And so far she has been really good with teething, let's hope that keeps up. Tuesday we'll be making our trip to the cabin for Riley's first xmas. We cannot wait.
Happy Holidays People!!!
Riley is getting so big. A few nights ago, she fell asleep in my arms. She hasn't done that in a few weeks -- and I already miss it. It was so sweet, she just zonked out in my arms. Poor thing has been staying awake for as long as she can stand it. She starts rubbing her eyes, yawning and crying but is fighting off sleep. Thankfully she is still sleeping through the night and in her crib! wooohooo! We're looking for some much needed time with my family at the cabin for christmas. The break will be greatly appreciated. Pics to come soon!!
YAY! Riley is in her crib now and is doing well. Although I miss having her close to me at night it is for the best. Or so I'm told. No, I know it is better for all, but I like being able to wake up and see her while she sleeps in her bassy by the bed. She's getting too big. I think she is already giving me "what for" in her own little language. She does have her very own attitude which I am still trying to figure out. She's getting to that stage where she is fussing for attention, its too cute but at the same time I have to resist giving in :( Its amazing that even the little things she does makes my day. My favorite at the moment is when she follows me with her eyes. And of coarse my all time favorite is when she smiles at me. Makes me feel all warm and fussy. :) here's some pics of her playing with her cousins.
This weekend, Andy's cousin came up with her family. Lillianne (who is 2 weeks), Layla (2 months) and Riley were all together for the first time. It was amazing to see the age differences in all three. It made me miss the times when Riley was at those milestones and amazed me on how big she has gotten. I'll have pics up soon of the gathering.
Now since Riley is eating her oatmeal, we are going to try to get her in her crib. Last night she slept from 11:30 to 10:00 this morning -- without stirring in the wee hours of the morning. For the first time in a long time, I feel like I got a good nights sleep. woohooo. Currently she is napping in her crib without a care in the world.
On a side note, my brother-in-law, Scott is having surgery today, so please keep him in your prayers. Also, my sister-in-law Morgan may be going home today woohooo!! Its about time.
Like I said pics are coming....
Riley made it to her first cheerleading competition last weekend. Morgan had her first youth league competition -- and she did great. A natural. No wonder, its in her blood, and its in Riley's too no matter what Andy says. She had a great time, and was awake lookin during most of it.
Riley and I went down to Louisville to watch Morgan and visit while Andy stayed at home to get some things done. We had a wonderful time.
Riley will be four months next week and guess what?!? She is rolling over on a regular basis. She gets mad when I roll her back onto her back.
Well pics are coming soon.
So Riley is recovering from her first cold. I felt so bad for her, coughing, sneezing, trouble breathing. But thankfully it hasn't lasted that long and she seems to be getting over it quickly. I took her to the doctor on Thursday to make sure that it wasn't an ear infection or in her lungs, and thank God it isn't. Other than that she's doing well. Still sleeping through the night, her hand/eye cordination is coming along well, and she's cooing up a storm. It is so much fun watching her evey move.
Riley is now over the 3 month mark. We got her pictures taken over the weekend to mark the event, actually I had a beautiful silk dress that I wanted to get pictures taken in before she outgrew it. She's still sleeping through the night, and is growing fast, almost too fast. As much as I enjoy her ever changing, I want her too stay this way forever.
We got a book about baby sign language last night, hopefully we can be good teachers.
My parents came up on Sunday for a day visit. Riley and I got some good grandma and pawpaw shopping time while Andy stayed home to work on our car. It was an unexpected surprise, but I am so happy they came up. It was a nice day and great to see them. Riley is so funny with them, I can tell she knows who they are and enjoys spending time with them. It makes me happy.
Last week, Riley made it to her tummy, all by herself. I was absolutely thrilled, Andy, however was upset that he missed it. :( But she's only done it a few times. She really wants to stand and sit up, and is really holding her head up quite well. She's still sleeping through the night (*knock on wood). She will be 3 months this week.
Time is flying by so fast. Christmas will be here before we know it. Riley is really making great progress as she developes. She has found her hands a few weeks ago, and is now on to her feet. I absolutely love this stage where she is playing with her toes in amazement that they are there. Sometimes I just wonder what she is thinking. She seems so aware of everything going on around her. She loves Peyton, and of coarse he loves her more than he does us. He just walks up, licks her on the leg or toes, and walks away. And she gets a giant grin on her face.
She's been cooing a lot her lately, she just has something to say. Its adorable.
We didn't do much this weekend. It was kind of quiet, in fact I even got a nap in on Sunday.
Pictures are coming soon...
Riley is in a cutest baby contest for the local newspaper....

she's 93....feel free to check it out....
So it was a great weekend. Jammed packed of all kinds of events. We got down there friday night, after a little stop in Edinburg to get Riley some warmer clothes. Then Saturday we hit Morgan & Chases games, then spent a short time at the somewhat disappointing "St. James Art Show" --- yea I don't know how those vendors make any money. I respect the artist as artists, but come'on, who can afford those prices?? I like going down there as an artist, but going as a consumer looking to buy is a different issue. What happened to the balance of crafts and highend artwork??? oh well, I did manage to get a few halloween decorations, but nothing for Riley's room.
Then we went shopping with mom and dad, and Sunday we went to chase's game where he got to play....he's so small, compared to the other boys, he got to play at the scrimmage.
We had a wonderful time. We did not go to the zoo, but its okay, Riley still tried on her halloween costume. Maybe next time... here are some pics!
Last night was Riley's first bonfire. We had a small get together at our house, Andy's Aunt Mary is in town. Although, she slept through most of it, Riley seemed to enjoy the company. It was the first bonfire we've had since before Riley was born. Its perfect weather, just cool enough so that you can snuggle. Riley had the warmest seat in the house, bundled up in her carseat. It was a nice night and a nice time to relax. Today we are heading down to Louisville for a jammed packed weekend. It's time for St. James Art Festival, and I'm so excited to go this year, perhaps I may buy something!!! I love this time of year. Leaves are changing, the fields are coming down, light jacket but can still wear flops season. There's just something about a nice fall day to make you happy.
well we'll have some pics up soon!! mom, dad, odaniels...here we come!!!!
We heard Riley laugh for the first time this weekend. It was adorable. I can't wait to hear it again.
This week is going to feel like it is forever long -- as we are making a trip down to Louisville this weekend. We have so much that is planned, its going to be crazy. Hopefully the kids have games Saturday morning. Then, we're going to take Riley to the zoo for Halloween at the Zoo...you'll see pictures of her costume later, we're keeping it a secret! Then hopefully we'll get to make a trip up to Hubers to the pumpkin patch. I can't wait! I'm so excited to see everyone!
We went to the park Sunday night for a little walk. Riley stayed awake the whole time--a first! Usually that carseat/stoller puts her right to sleep. But she listened to the ducks and looked at the trees. It was fun. We also made a visit to Andy's great grandparents for them to meet Riley. It was cute seeing them with her. But at the same time, it made me miss my family. This is only going to get harder I think...this living 2 hours away. But it makes visits with them all the more special and for that I'm grateful.
Here are some pics from the weekend...
So my mom and dad got to come up for the night. They got us a room at the hotel so we didn't have to drive back and forth, and we could have a little more time together. It was nice to have them up here...I wish that everyone could have come. But hopefully we'll be seeing the rest of my family in just a few short weeks....I think it's going to feel like forever.
Here are some few pics!
